Volunteers
A good school library media center volunteer is the school’s
library media specialist’s best friend.
As result of staff reduction the CCPS elementary and middle school
library media centers and programs are coordinated by one person, the library
media specialist. Volunteering in the
Adamson Middle School library media center (ALMC) not only supports the library
media specialist but also services every student in the school.
There are many tasks that need to done in the ALMC ranging
from checking out books, shelving books, rearranging books, weeding books,
creating program documents, laminating, maintaining computers, printing,
copying, plant maintenance, book fair support, book club support, equipment
maintenance, general housekeeping maintenance, periodical maintenance, rolling
screen support, photographing of school events, student support, story reading,
research support, book repair and a myriad of other library media center
related duties.
It is important that an ALMC volunteer is comfortable with
his/her volunteered tasks. We encourage
volunteers to share what you want to do, as you have just read there are many
different kinds of tasks, and I am sure we can find one that best suits your
skills and abilities.
Interested in volunteering in the ALMC? If you have 30
minutes or more to spare, we would love to have you volunteer in the ALMC
between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. To
