Ms. Vollmer

Hello My Name Is...

Yvonne Vollmer

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. I am so excited to get this school year started!

I want to begin by telling you a little about myself. I am married, have one son and 6, yes 6, grandchildren, who are the apples of my eye. I graduated in 1993 from Auburn University at Montgomery with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and I completed my master’s degree in 1995 in Special Education. This is my 23rd year teaching students with disabilities. I started my teaching career in Montgomery, Alabama and moved to Georgia in the year 2000.

I teach functional academics, to include math, reading, language arts, science and social studies. I also touch on social, communication and employment skills. You can expect to receive a behavior sheet every day. Please take the time to review it with your child, whether he/she had good behavior or unacceptable behavior, sign it and return it the next school day. The behavior will also have information for the week that you may need to know about. It will also indicate if your child has homework. Please write any comments you need to convey to us at the bottom of the sheet and/or on the back. If your child is absent, please make sure you send an excuse when they return to school.

I believe that every child can learn and it’s my job to make them as successful and independent as they can be. I believe in being in close contact with my parents, because as we all know, it takes a village to raise and educate a child. I want you to feel free to call me at any time or drop by the school and visit whenever you need to. With that being said, here is my contact information - cell phone: 678-818-9775; email:; School phone: 770-968-2925. If you call and I’m not able to answer right away, please leave a message and I will call you back.

I’m looking forward to a great school year!
