GADOE

Georgia Parent Survey
School Year 2018-2019

School climate is “the quality and character of school life” that is based on the “patterns of students’, parents’, and school personnel’s experiences of school life.”

Research has found that schools with positive school climates tend to have better test scores and graduation rates; in contrast, schools with negative school climates as a result of unsafe or hostile environments tend to have lower academic performance.
Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish.  Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey. We appreciate your participation and support!

Construction

Dear Parents,

We are getting ready to kick off construction to provide much-needed renovations and improvements to Adamson Middle School.  Construction will consist of six phases, with phase one beginning September 27, 2018, followed by the other five phases.  Each phase of construction will require a grade level to move into modular units near the football field for approximately 30-45 days.  Below is the scope of the work being done:

  • Phase One (9/27 – 10/27):Renovation of the 8th grade hallway to include paint, doors and hardware, electrical and internet upgrades, new flooring, and roof.
  • Phase Two (10/27 – 12/17:Renovation of the 7th grade hallway to include paint, doors and hardware, electrical and internet upgrades, new flooring, and roof.
  • Phase Three (12/17 – 1/30/2019):Renovation of the 7th grade hallway to include paint, doors and hardware, electrical and internet upgrades, new flooring, and roof.
  • Phase Four (1/31 – 3/14):Renovation of the Special Needs hallway to include paint, doors and hardware, electrical and internet upgrades, new flooring, and roof.
  • Phase Five (3/5 – 5/24):Renovation of the 6th grade hallway to include paint, doors and hardware, electrical and internet upgrades, new flooring, and roof.
  • Phase Six (5/25 – 8/1): Renovation of the connections hallway and the administrative and front office to include air conditioning in the gym, new secure front entrance, new administrative suite, paint, doors and hardware, electrical and internet upgrades, new flooring, and roof. Also, new landscaping and tree removal, paving, and sidewalks will be done.

The safety and security for our students and staff during construction is our top priority.  Our message to students is to stay away and stay safe from construction areas, as demolition will be taking place.  Furthermore, all construction crew members have been screened, and they should be wearing a visible visitor’s badge at all times.  Also, parents please be patient with us, as traffic flow will/could be altered in the mornings, and students may exposed to the elements as they change classes to and from the modular units.

Finally, should you have any questions regarding construction or any other topic, please feel free to contact me at the school, or via email, which are on the website.

Sincerely,

Adrian D. Courtland
