Mr. Courtland is a Selma, Alabama native, who eventually moved to the Atlanta area in 1986.  Mr. Courtland is a product of Clayton County, as he graduated from North Clayton High School in 1991.  Mr. Courtland went on to receive his B.S. in Secondary Education (English and Political Science) from Alabama A and M University; he received his M.S. and Ed.S. degrees from Cambridge College and Lincoln Memorial University respectively.  Mr. Courtland has over 22 years of experience in education, with all of them being with the Clayton County Public Schools.  Mr. Courtland believes that all students can learn effectively in a safe and conducive environment for learning with a high-quality teacher providing effective and deliberate instruction.
